- There's several reports of a deal that would trade Seattle ace Sean Calcutt to the Boston Red Sox for an unnamed replacement and prospects.
- Seattle has attempted to trade Calcutt once before to the Connecticut Colonials.
- We'll keep this updated as it progresses.

Oakland Rumors
- The Oakland Athletics are shopping newly acquired 1B George Nelson. They probably
traded for him because of his age compared to Barton. Trenton could be a possible suitor. - Oakland is also shopping highly regarded prospect John Fair. They're looking for a young, MLB ready starter, somebody like Edmund Tovares or Marcus Pernas.
- With long-term extension of Alan Peel, Oakland won't be looking for a closer in a long, long time.
- Oakland is also shopping Nomar Garcia, Melky Cabrera, Fautino De Los Santos, Reid Brignac, and Warren Smith.

Pittsburgh-Oakland in the works?
- Rumors are flooding in that the Athletics are seriously pursuing Pirates starter Patrick DeCock.
- Oakland has never really had any young top pitchers in its recent history, and this would be a good move to help Oakland's pitching future.
- Possible deals include Oakland sending top prospect Brian Zimmerman for DeCock and another prospect.
Ross Shaw to a contender?
- The Atlanta Braves have had a couple teams inquire about SP Ross Shaw of the Atlanta Braves. Both teams interested in Shaw are contenders including a team in the Braves division and a team in the AL. Shaw looks like he may be headed up to the north-east in the near future as draft picks are involved in both offers. Shaw looks destined to be a stud in his career.
- The Braves have also made Rickie Weeks, Jarnell Harris, and Josh Thompson available but have had no serious offers as of now.

Nationals have their eye on Taylor
- The Washington Nationals look like they are feverently pursuing San Francisco shortstop Erik Taylor. Taylor could be traded in a deal that would bring Washington shortstop prospect Tim Francis and pitching prospect Norberto Zotea to the Giants.
- Nationals GM Eli Nachmany had this to say, "We would be delighted to bring in a player of Erik's caliber. We know that Tim has the potential to become a special player, but we wanted to improve our outlook, and Tim and Norberto are expendable at this point." Nachmany declined further commenting, saying the deal was far from "done". He did have this to say though, "[The Giants GM] James has told me he will seriously look into this trade, as he likes how it looks right now."
- The Giants GM said about the possible trade, "The Nationals GM answered all my questions about Francis, and I will send a scout to go watch him play in tomorrow night's game. Zotea is a decent prospect and I will do all I can to keep these talks alive."

New Haven already looking for a name change?
- With New Haven Raven GM Brent Kincer's team being set, he has set his eyes on something else.
- After seven years of being the New Haven Ravens, Kincer said that the team is looking for a new name once again to gain a broader fan base.
- The only hint of a possible name, suggested by Oakland GM Mike Zach, is the Connecticut Colonials.

Eaken traded to San Fransisco
- Virgil Eaken, discussed earlier, has been traded to the San Fransisco Giants for three prospects.
- This trade makes sense for the Giants because this gives them a young ace and also makes them able to trade some other pitchers.
- I suppose the Phillies are not going to try and contend this season, seeing as they're trying to lessen the budgets.

- Also, please don't be afraid to add comments to these blog posts.
Phillies Rumors
- The Phillies might be looking to sign Danny Richar back on to the team. Richar hit .292 in 139 games with the Phillies in 2016.
- Reports say that the Chicago Cubs have attempted to acquire Nicholas Hagadone and Virgil Eaken. These negotiations don't seem to have gotten that far, though. San Fransisco seems to also have interest in Eaken, and there are negotiations going on there. The Mets have also made the Phillies some offers for Hagadone, and negotiations are also proceeding there.
- The Colorado Rockies have gotten in touch with the Phillies according to reports, making offers for Justin Upton and Jose Tabata. The Phillies have reportedly made a counter offer and negotiations proceed.
- 23 year old starting pitcher Leon Tirado seems to be availible. Reports say that the Ravens and Phillies are in heavy negotiations over the young lefty.
Bidding War for Shlyarochnik
- There's a bidding war going on for shortstop Dan Shlyarochnik, a 24 year old shortstop originally from the Padres. He looks to have a ton of potential for the future, and also had a good year this year, hitting .289 in 533 AB's.
- Everybody wants in this. The Oakland Athletics, Los Angeles Dodgers, Los Angeles Angels, and Kansas City Royals have all gotten their bids in so far, with many more teams probably looking to get in.
Dodgers Rumors
- The Los Angeles Dodgers are looking to fill the bullpen. Perhaps free agent Chris Siegfried could fit the bill? The Dodgers have the draft picks to do it.
- Also, the Dodgers are looking to get a catcher, infielder, and an outfielder. Reports say they're looking at Max Ramirez, Yunel Escobar, Chris Nowak, Dan Shlyarochnik, and several others.
- Could Oakland's Reid Brignac be another option, considering he can play both the infield and outfield?
- UPDATE: Another Oakland infielder, the long-lasting Nomar Garcia could be another possibility, as hinted on by several reports.

Nats looking at Openshaw?
- Sources say Nationals GM Eli Nachmany seems to think that after the Reid trade that he has the pieces to acquire Sean Openshaw from the Los Angeles Angels.
- I don't think the Angels are budging here. Openshaw is one of the best pitchers around and the likeliness of him being dealt is slim.
- Angels GM Spencer Giese, when hearing these reports, said simply "Not interested".
Athletics land K-Rod
- The Oakland Athletics are after reliever Francisco Rodriguez. This move would make sense because the A's need more solid relievers. Rodriguez was 3-4 with a 3.26 ERA in 66.1 IP, striking out 53.
- UPDATE: The Oakland Athletics send questionable prospect Shawn Gilfedder to complete the deal.
Reid trade "done"
- According to sources, the Washington Nationals-Trenton Atlantics deal is "done".
- The trade is big, it includes (as bases, will also include many small prospects): Neill Reid, Norberto Zotea for Brian Hall, Jose Delossantos, James Boling.
Atlantics Rumors
- Mumblings from around the league say that Seth Wilken may be on the move soon to Los Angeles with the news of the Angels placing Tony Endreson and Brian Cowans on the block.
- Personally this seems to be overpaying for Wilken, even though he is quite talented. Sources say that the Atlantics GM wants to balance out his rotation with these two guys.
- Trenton will be quite active this offseason, looking to improve in the outfield and in the bullpen. Sources tell me that they're interested in one of Oakland's young relievers on the block (Martin Moriarty, Mark Perkins, Andy Alfred, and Brian Mettrick). This might make sense due to Trenton's wish to balance out their bullpen with these decent guys so they may strengthen elsewhere.
- There's also rumors being circled that star prospect first baseman Neill Reid might be traded to the Nationals. Reports say that the Nationals are willing to overpay for him, supposedly with both prospects and Major League talent.
Ravens looking at Kane?
- According to reports, the Ravens are looking at 25 year old righty Al Kane, who is owed $52.2m through 2021.
- This trade makes sense for the Ravens, considering GM Brent Kincer is looking to make the team younger and add a young ace to his staff.
- Arizona GM Matt Douty, however, said "Who ever came up with 'these reports' is definitely high, there is no truth to that what so ever."
